Bring back Dewani campaign

The ANCWL says in a statement the South African police worked tirelessly in a bid to unravel the mystery surrounding Annie Dewani’s brutal slaying in a township near Cape Town in 2010. “The ANC Women’s League would like to commend the police for their hard work and praise them and the prosecuting authority for
the convictions and life sentence they have managed to achieve thus far. This sends out a strong message that crime in South Africa, more especially crime against women will not be tolerated.

“However there is a piece of this puzzle still outstanding and the South African police need to close this case. They have accused Shrien Dewani (Annie’s husband) of being the mastermind behind this murder plot and the ANCWL strongly believes that he must be extradited to South Africa and stand trial.

“The ANCWL therefore will support the Gauteng government initiative of a march to the High Commission in Pretoria as it coincides with the ANC Women’s League NEC decision to join the “Bring back Dewani” campaign.

DATE: 10-12-2012

VENUE: To gather at the Arcadia Primary School in Pretoria and march to the British High Commission where a letter of memorandum will be handed over.

TIME: 10H00

All who believe in justice and a society free of violence against women are welcome to join the march.
