A couple who postponed their wedding thrice due to lockdown and COVID-19, finally tied the knot on 6 April in an unconventional way – at Melomed Tokai Private hospital.

The bride wore a flowing fairytale white dress with a medium length train, and the groom was dressed in a blue blazer, cream pants and bowtie.

SABC News Western Cape were present for the nuptials and documented the ceremony in pictures.

The Cape Town couple requested the hospital as their venue after the bride’s father was admitted there. They were not going to forego one more wedding ceremony because they had to postpone three time before. Instead, they asked Melomed Tokai for permission to host the ceremony at the hospital.

Group Marketing Manager, Shameema Adams, told SABC News Western Cape that the couple contacted her to request permission to have a ceremony at the hospital.

“We firstly contacted the treating doctor for his approval and identified a suitable area in the hospital, to ensure the strictest safety protocols, said Adams.

The waiting area was transformed into a venue, complete with wedding cake, snacks and a place to take photographs.

“The family was extremely overwhelmed by the gesture and for the hospital accommodating the request. It really was such a blessing and tribute to host a celebration of union at a place of healing and hope.”

This is not the first time a Melomed hosted a wedding ceremony. In 2019, a similar ceremony took place at Melomed Gatesville Private Hospital.

The groom was a patient after he was attacked during a robbery the day before his wedding. Instead of cancelling, they tied the knot in the hospital, complete with wedding dress and flower bouquet.

It goes to show you, love will always win!
