Omicron Variant - What You Should Know

The omicron variant is among us and like the president stated, variants will continue to form if we do not get vaccinated.

While the coronavirus is dangerous on its own, a new variant can be a whole different ball game and is surely not one to play with.

Omicron variant has lighter symptoms

At this time, it looks as though that this variant has lighter symptoms than previous variants but can still cause an illness that can be avoided.

To date, some strange cases have been reported in Pretoria as one doctor noted the patients experienced symptoms that do not correlate to the Delta variant.

So, with new variants forming at this time, it is possible for this variant to take shape in other forms which is the worst-case scenario.

Scientist are still assessing its behavior

Due to these findings, the World Health Organization has designated omicron as a variant of concern, and although mild symptoms occur in vaccinated as well as unvaccinated patients, individuals should still remain vigilant.

Currently, this variant is unpredictable as it is said to be able to mutate multiple times. However, its ability to withstand the vaccine needs to be assessed as well. It is through this that a booster vaccine is recommended to be taken.
