At midday on Sunday 26 September 2010, DJ Black Coffee created a new Guinness Record of 60 hours of DJing, making him the first DJ to play for 60 hours with only one hand. He lost the use of his left arm in an accident at the age of 13.
With a 20-minute break every four hours, Black Coffee, real name Nkosinathi Maphumulo, put the show on for free in Soweto, starting at midnight on 23 September. He played a mix from kwaito to mid-tempo and other styles.
Not only did Black Coffee deejay for 60 hours, he also raised awareness about The Black Coffee Foundation, which helps disabled people. The Black Coffee Foundation works with the Tumelo Home in Thembisa, the Disabled People of KwaThema and Noar's Ark in Orlando.
