Hungarian Tart recipe

Ingredients

125 g butter
2 TBS cooking oil
2 tsp baking powder
2 TBS castor sugar
1 beaten egg
1/2 tsp vanilla essence
2 cups flour
Jam

Method

Preheat oven to 160°C. Cream butter and sugar. Add oil, vanilla and mix well. Stir in beaten egg. Add baking powder and flour. Mix all together into a dough and knead well.
Spread dough into a greased tray and lightly prick with a fork.
Spread softened jam over dough.
Repeat mixture and grate onto jam.
Bake for approximately 30 to 40 minutes. Remove when tart has risen and light brown.
Dust top with icing sugar whilst hot.
Cut into squares when cool. Enjoy !!!
NB: I always double the ingredients besides the jam as a base for the oven tray. I then use the ingredients above to grate over after the jam has been applied on the base.
