News24 quotes TVplus who says they have heard from multiple sources that the upcoming new season of 7de Laan will possibly not air this Monday when it is scheduled to kick off, due to the SABC not yet finalising their new contract with Danie Odendaal Productions, the production company that makes 7de Laan.
It is well-known that the SABC is in ‘groot’ financial ‘kak’ – especially since a certain non-qualified buffoon called Cloudi Hlaudi Matsoening ran the public broadcaster into a financial pit toilet.
Employees at 7de Laan, including the cast and crew, were issued a memo on Thursday, 20 October, which TVplus is in possession of, to explain the situation and were asked to move important debit orders because it is highly possible that they will not receive their salary this month.
According to a leaked document it is “anyone’s guess at to when (today, tomorrow, next week…) when we will receive the contract and when we will receive first payment…”
Meanwhile the Democratic Alliance says it has been reliably informed that Cloudy Hlaudi has promised an extra R10,000 each to staff at the SABC as part of a ‘sweetener deal’ to gain favour.
The DA said that at a meeting on Wednesday, the embattled SABC executive for corporate affairs and former chief operating officer announced to staff at the bargaining unit that “I have found a sweetener for you, Hlaudi has found an extra R10,000 for you”.
According to the political party, the payment of R10,000 will be to all staff excluding middle, senior and top management – scale code 300 and below – and is said to amount to R32 million, and would require board approval.
