A week after Anele ‘Nelli’ Tembe was laid to rest, AKA released a statement saying ‘every day feels like a mountain to climb’.
Tembe fell to her death from the 10th floor of the luxury Pepperclub Hotel on April 11, following a night of partying in Cape Town with her fiancé.
Rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes said in the statement that he misses Anele so much, he is heartbroken at the unfulfilled life they planned together.

The details surrounding her death are still unknown, and police say investigations are ongoing.
During her funeral, her father Moses Tembe said in a speech that he believes drugs and alcohol played a big role in her demise.
“As Anele’s father, I categorically state that Anele was neither suicidal nor did she commit suicide. We must as a matter of priority deal with the scourge that bedevils our youth. Alcohol which is overused and drugs. Fellow South Africans we better wake up and smell the coffee, we have a serious problem with substance abuse,” he said.
The family are struggling to come to terms with her death, as she was so young and had a bright future ahead of her.
AKA further said that insinuations and innuendos made on his personhood make it more difficult to process and is causing unspeakable strain on their families, as they try to make sense of her death.
“I wish to convey my gratitude to all the people who have supported me during this difficult time in my life, my mom Lynn and dad Tony, Bab’ Moses and Ndabezitha, my brother Steffan, my family (both Forbes and Tembe), my heartfelt gratitude to you all,” he said.
His publicist confirmed that he is receiving grief counselling to help him deal with Nelli’s death.
The pair were engaged on January 26 after a year of dating, and had already started Lobola negotiations just weeks before her death.
