Pap fingers? Hello?
Now this just the kind of Justin Bonello recipe with a fab bush cook twist. I loved the idea, but it seemed to be a bit of an effort to make on my own, especially since I get two-minute noodles wrong (or maybe they are supposed to taste like that…) so I called in my sister in for some much needed help!
Now as it goes with my sister and I – this became a feast involving the whole family, with a competition thrown in for good measure! Yes, our ever frank family would judge the best dish! Me with my pap fingers and1 my sister with her prawn dumplings.
Let the games begin!
I started the competition on a good foot – I found the correct pap at the Pick n pay! (Good luck sis this is going to be a wipe out) After diligently reading and re-reading the recipe I realised that I could actually do this – I could win this competition and also be the next bush chef!
The ingredients listed were easy to find, and the instructions were fab and being a bit design conscience, I must say I loved the layout and images in the book too. I was officially inspired!
Mix, mix, mix, roll, fry, taste! I had produced one of Justins culinary delights!
Now just bring on that competition, I will soooo take the prize
I recommend getting ‘Cooked out of a frying pan’ by Justin Bonello. He spent 3 months with his Land Rover, chopping away in 13 different chefs’ kitchens in places from Table Bay and the Midlands to the Blue Train. You will be able to find ‘Cooked out of a frying pan’ at any good book store for R300.
