With a distinctively South African sound and, in that relatively long time in the industry, (with some bands churning out a record a year) the band has opted for quality rather than quantity, and they have recently released their first album and, like most good things, it was worth the wait. Tuckshop has had crowds buzzing with delight, even before the independent release of the album on their own label nonetheless! This fearsome foursome has a bright future ahead of them.
To sum them up, in their own words on imagining one of their shows: “It might be easier to imagine Johnny Clegg and Blondie in matching Lycra outfits doing a duet of AC/DC’s “You Shook Me All Night Long” while a troupe of traditional Zulu dancers in DEVO hats do the robot in the background.”
