The Garden Route SPCA are looking for some special humans to volunteer their love to the lonely cats and dogs in their care.
Some animals have been there for long periods of time and are still awaiting adoption. In a post on their Facebook Page, the SPCA called on animal-lovers in their area to reach out to them. Dog walkers and cat cuddlers are needed on Wednesday from 2pm – 4pm and on Saturday’s from 9am – 11am.
“Everything is provided – you just arrive at our premises (Ossie Urban Road, Tamsui) and sign in at the office. The animals are walked on leads and put into the playpens to socialise and play with the other dogs. (don’t wear your best clothes),” they wrote on their page.
There are medical studies that have concluded that animals decrease levels of cortisol (a stress-related hormone) and lower blood pressure. Further to these findings, animals also reduce loneliness, increase feelings of social support, and naturally boost your mood.
For more information on how you can get some puppy loving, contact their office at 044 878 1990 or just arrive.
