The tour started at Sydney Festival, a sold out, amazing reception. Sydney was decorated with rainbow colours in preparation for the world famous Mardi Gras celebration. Sydney boasts the largest gay population after San Francisco and Mardi Gras is one of the biggest gay street parades around the world. It is held on one of Sydney’s main streets, Oxford Street. Australia is like a mini England in the sun with familiar names like Hyde Park and Marble Arch. Even the Australian dollar has the queen of England on it!
We met friends for dinner one night and had dumplings at Din Tai Fung, an award-winning restaurant in china town. With Asia being so close, Asian food is as much part of the Australian culture as barbecue!
After Sydney, it was time to hit Brisbane for a more chilled out vibe. We performed alongside Florence and the Machine, the XX and Black Lips and after the show I met a South African who was so pleased to meet a fellow countryman.
After Brisbane, it was onto Melbourne and Adelaide, then back to Sydney, followed by Perth before heading back to Paris. Show after show it was incredible! Next up, I’ll be in USA for the SXSW music festival and Miami Winter music conference in March. Definitely some of the best festivals around and more fine weather!
