He followed this up with a performance on BBC 2’s Mock the Week during the Football World Cup, and is now on his way back to London with a one man tour de farce* that satirises the State of the Rainbow Nation. With insightful wit and an acrobatic tongue, Rabinowitz darts between local African languages, an ability that was nurtured on the farm he grew up on just outside Cape Town, where he spent many years climbing trees and commentating on his own rugby games in at least three of South Africa’s eleven official languages.
In 2008 he was awarded “SA Stand-up of the Year” for having established himself as the world’s leading Xhosa-speaking Jewish comedian.Rabinowitz’s animated and offbeat humour astutely captures the goat-eat-goat world of South Africa in an hour of rollicking delight.
