Details: On Thursday 24th February 2011, the rapidly growing sport of polo will take a historic step into sporting mainstream with a unique indoor event at The O2.
The Gaucho International Polo will be the ultimate celebration in the development of the game and its growing popularity. A festival atmosphere will be generated by a mixture of sporting entertainment, corporate hospitality, live music, food and drink stalls, a luxury retail village and a ‘have-a-go-polo’ for all that want to try their hand at the legendary sport.
Arena Polo is a truly exciting form of polo played on a reduced size pitch and with only three players per side rather than the usual four. The result is a fast paced and exciting game that has never been easier to follow. What’s more, thanks to the compact indoor pitch and intimate atmosphere, you’ll never be too far away from the action.
Matches will include EFG’s England v Camino Real’s Argentina for the ultimate grudge match between two iconic polo nations. Alongside this, the Ambassadors Cup between South Africa and Scotland plus the exciting Varsity match between Oxford and Cambridge and also a special celebrity match to raise funds for charity.
Gates open at 3:00pm with access to the retail village and entertainment for all. The first match kicks off at 5:00pm, perfect for those much needed after-work drinks.
Of course, no polo tournament is complete without a players’ after-party. For this element of the event you will not need to go far. One of the exclusive 2500 capacity clubs within The O2 will be where the players can be found after the tournament as they host an after-party fitting of such a great tournament.
