Switzerland is located in Western Europe, bordered by Germany, France, Austria, Italy and Lichtenstein. We have four official languages, German, French, Italian and the lesser-known Romansh.
Winter time is absolutely stunning! Everything is covered in Snow. People come from all over the world to ski the Swiss Alps. Most famous skiing resorts are St. Moritz and Davos.
If you are travelling on a small budget and want to see as much as possible you should go to Luzern. It has just about everything from mountains, a lake called the Vierwäldersee – . The Reuss devides the city into two parts, the old city and the modern city. There are great museums one of the beiing the “transport” museum – a must see!
Bern our Capital is also a great place to visit if you are interested in seeing historical sights, and for a typical Swiss Traditional place I would recommend Appenzell – they make lekker cheese there.
Adjustung to the Swiss way of living took me years! I find the Swiss to be very quiet, reserved, serious and conscientious, also very formal in their ways going about dealing with friends and family… imagine having to make an appointment to visit your family. No way can you just pop in with beer and boeries in your hands!!
The way of living here is completely different to South Africa…it’s safer… higher quality of life. We have good health services, there’s no way you’re going to be living here without medical aid insurance! There are adequate job opportunities.
Switzerland is a great country, but as any other country in the world, there is a big difference living there or going there on holidays…
