The best of SA comedy to hit Wimbledon

Back by popular demand for two nights only, New Wimbledon Theatre plays host once again to South Africa’s brightest comedy stars following the hugely successful and hilarious 2014 inaugural Cape Town Funny Festival in London.

Cape Town Funny Festival has become the most prestigious comedy festival in South Africa and includes the country’s biggest TV and theatre comics. The show will be hosted by Cape Town comedy legend and firm New Wimbledon Theatre favourite Alan Committie, known for his standup shows The Sound of Laughter.

Joining Alan will be some of the Rainbow Nation’s best comedians, including South Africa’s most recognisable and top female comic, Tumi Morake, who aims to take ‘the audience by the short and curlies” to bring them to their knees.

Support will come from actor and comedian, Siv Ngesi, quintessential comedy heavyweight Kagiso Mokgadi and Ndumiso Lindi, bringing his deep voice, warming smile, booming laughter, original content and seamless delivery to Wimbledon for the first time.

Alan Committie is one of South Africa’s leading, award-winning comic performers. Alan has written numerous TV shows and served as creator and executive producer of the South African hit sitcom Those Who and as writer and star of Van der Walt’s Fault and Laugh Out Loud.

Tumi Morake is the most recognisable female comic in South Africa. Her credits include supporting roles in the international award-winning films Jerusalema, Skin and Joburg.

Siv Ngesi is an award-winning actor and comedian and always has the audience laughing their socks off. Ngesi has starred in many international films including Invictus and Long Walk to Freedom.

Kagiso Mokgadi also known as KG uses his unique perspective on life to deliver his famous side-splitting gags.

Ndumiso Lindi is a proud African comedian, with rave reviews throughout Africa in places such as Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya and Uganda, he is taking South African comedy to places few would.
