The best part of living and working in Bermuda is that you don’t get homesick. There are enough South Africans living here (mostly doctors, nurses, beauty therapists and accountants) that should you feel the need to speak Afrikaans – you’re sure to find someone. The local supermarket even sells Boerewors, although still no luck on the biltong. It’s too humid.
As for weekends, well you have a choice of hundreds of beaches, some more pristine and private than others and everyone knows someone who has a boat, so you end up on the water no matter what. Some of my best friends are Bermudian. They are a wonderful and beautiful people who love to have a good time, but also take their culture and traditions very seriously. Cricket anyone?
