Severe Weather Alerts
IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:
- Yellow level 1 warning for damaging winds expected between Port Alfred and Port St. Johns, moderating from early afternoon.
FIRE DANGER WARNINGS:
- Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the Kamiesberg LM of the Northern Cape and Matzikama LM of the Western Cape.
ADVISORIES:
- Extremely hot conditions are expected over the West Coast district of the Western Cape as well as the Richtersveld and Kamiesberg municipality of the Northern Cape.
- A heatwave with persistently high temperatures is expected in Richtersveld and Kamiesberg municipalities of the Northern Cape as well as the northern parts of the West Coast District of the Western Cape until Saturday.
Gauteng:
Temperature: Fine and warm, becoming partly cloudy with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers.

Mpumalanga:
Temperature: Cloudy and cool with drizzle and fog patches along the escarpment. Isolated showers and rain are expected but scattered in the north-western Highveld.
Limpopo:
Temperature: Morning fog patches along the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and rain but scattered in the central and Western Bushveld areas.
North-West Province:
Temperature: Fine and warm becoming partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers in the extreme east.
Free State:
Temperature: Fine and warm, but cool in the east where it will be partly cloudy.
Northern Cape:
Temperature: Fine and warm to hot, but extremely hot along the coast, becoming partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers in the north western parts.
Wind: The wind along the coast will be light to moderate southerly to south-easterly.
Western Cape:
Temperature: Cloudy in the early morning along the south coast and over the interior, otherwise fine and warm to hot but cool along the south coast. It will be very hot to extremely hot along the west coast with isolated afternoon thunderstorms over the extreme northern parts of the region
Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south-easterly to southerly but light to moderate along the west coast.

Eastern Cape:
The Western half – Temperature: Partly cloudy and cool with early morning fog over the interior
The Western Half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-easterly, becoming strong over the Tsitsikamma coast from the early afternoon.
The Eastern half – Temperature: Cloudy and cool but cold in places with morning fog south of the escarpment, becoming fine in the north from the late morning.
The Eastern half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be strong to near gale southwesterly east of East London in the morning, otherwise light to moderate easterly.
Kwazulu-Natal:
Temperature: Morning fog over the interior, otherwise cloudy and cool but cold in the western high ground. Isolated showers and rain expected, clearing from the south by late afternoon.
Wind: The wind along the coast will be strong south-westerly, moderating from the south in the afternoon.
