Many a WhatsApp user over the past couple of days have been tricked into downloading ‘WhatsApp Gold’, an apparently ‘exclusive’ version of the app. This ‘gold’ version will actually infect your mobile phone with vey mean malware.
The way you are fooled into downloading it is by receiving a text messages inviting your to sign up for the special service via a ‘WhatsApp Gold’ website, conveniently posting a link to the website in the message.
The ‘extra’ features used to trick you into the downloading the malware trap include ‘the ability to send hundreds of pictures at once, new emojis, video calling, enhanced security features and more customisation options’. It also says that up to now only top celebrities were allowed to use it. Clever…
