Zim idol launch party which had been scheduled for the Jam Jar/ Keos Bar Music Cafe in Leicester Saturday the 22nd of August has now been moved to the 19th of September. Fans have been looking forward to this date judging from the traffic counter at the show `s official website www.zimidol.com which since the beginning of the week saw a sudden increase in visitors that almost crushed the site down.
Speaking to the organisers of the show in the Public Relations, Philani Noble said the jam action packed talent launch party was going to be moved to a later date because of the recent two week long company overhaul and restructuring which focusssed on the PR. ” We had to move the launch party further on to accommodate the changes that recently took place; we have new structures and marketing revamp. We also wanted to give an extra opportunity to more upcoming artist who have requested an invitation to perform at the launch, with examples of the German based up coming Hip Hop Up supremo Culprit and his production. In a nut shell the launch party has been shelved for the best, with a bigger selection of most talented artist coming on board”.
The launch party`s initial line up featured Jusa Dementor of ABRA and also the nominee of the Southern African Achievers Awards, Cynthia Mare a new UK sensation taking fans by storm, BKay and Kazz also masters of their own trade, King “Father” Alfred not to forget Mangesto, the UK based Kwaito Prince.
A team led by Peter has since been dispatched for 2 months to make mega preparations for the entire show in Zimbabwe where they are meeting sponsors and signing contracts with performing artists. Zimidol show finals are going to be held in Zimbabwe with international finalist being flown to Zimbabwe to square with the local best.
“We believe the time is now that our music moves to compete internationally and show the world that we are a mature country as well as we are sovereign. To Zimbabweans we aim to reintegrate all Zimbabweans wherever they are and reconcile them through music and dance. After the xenophobia in South Africa we want to put back the smile on the faces of those Zimbabweans that survived it. For Zimbabweans and all Zimbabwe residents in Zimbabwe we want to usher reconciliation through music.” said Pearson, the technical guru of the organisation also in charge of applications.
Before the team led by Peter who has since left for Zimbabwe, a lengthy and steamy make or break meeting was called at the eleventh hour when Pearson, one of the directors resigned. The tension was over the poor PR of one of the senior directors
Eventually most major departments were reassigned and a complete re-structuring exercise that was initially proposed has now been adopted mainly focussing on the PR. All international shows have been put aside for next year and a decision to accept launch party proposals from all previous international venues for the main Zimbabwe talent show is still pending.
Audition schedule is still intact for the UK which will be held on the 25th, 26th and 27th of September 2009 at the Jam Jar/ Keos Bar Music Cafe in Leicester soon after the launch party on the 19th of September 2009. Zimbabwe will still have the auditions starting in November 2009 to April 2010.
The website is geared for major changes and spruce up in the coming week. A new Twitter, MySpace and facebook strategy is being finalised.
