Her sister started grade 8 at a school, the very same school Zephany attends. Other Pupils started noticing the resemblance and as luck will have it they became friends as well.
Nurses invited the matric pupil over for coffee and contacted the police after confirming the likeness.
Thanks to the help of a DNA test it was confirmed that Zephany Nurse was indeed the daughter of Celeste and Morné Nurse, reported the Cape Argus.
Netwerk24 reported that the Hawks arrested a 50-year-old woman (she and her husband has no other children) and she will appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
On her 14th birthday, she was still missing, the Cape Argus interviewed the family and reported:
Even though 14 years have passed, Celeste still feels the bond to her daughter.
“There was a smell on her when she was born. I smelled it the other day. I still feel our connection.”
Morné and Celeste said faith and hope were what had carried them through the years.
Celeste said that she forgave the person who took her child a long time ago.
“So now the only decent thing she can do is bring her back home. It’s been long enough,” she pleaded.
We wish the Nurse family all the best it must be the best feeling imaginable to have your child back after so many years!
