THE SIZE of the rings is determined on the size of the client’s hand and designing the wedding band simultaneously with the engagement ring is essential. An all-time favourite is the single diamond, or solitaire, combined with a diamond wedding band. Another popular setting is the trilogy or three-stoned ring. In this setting a single, larger stone (usually a diamond) is flanked by two smaller stones, which may also be diamonds or gemstones. The three stones are very symbolic in representing the phases of life for the couple – their past, present and future together – and can also have religious connotations.
