Bathabile Dlamini is now facing some serious consequences as she was not truthful during her previous court hearing. This is but a myriad of issues found with the ANC.
Bathabile Dlamini found guilty of perjury
As reported by Times Live, the court hearing was suspended twice. This was due to technical difficulties. It was later moved to a different courtroom.
During her hearing, the judge found that Bathabile Dlamini had in fact lied under oath. This is regarding her involvement with the Sassa grant payments.
Previously, Bathabile Dlamini denied knowing anything about Sassa payments. The court found that this had been the case. The Judge concluded that those in rank should be punished in the same way poor people are punished. There should be no difference.
New court date for the 1st of April
Currently, Bathabile Dlamini is scheduled to appear in court on the 1st of April. During this time, Dlamini will be able to hear her fate in terms of going to jail or paying a fine.
Bathabile’s lawyer insisted that the Judge give Bathabile Dlamini a heavy fine instead of sending the 59-year-old to jail. He continued to say that she has multiple dependents including her 19-year-old daughter as well as a 26-year-old daughter who is currently at University.

Dlamini apparently also takes care of her two elderly parents and extended family with her 40, 000 rand paycheck monthly. She also receives an additional 70 thousand from the ANC Woman’s League.
The convicted relayed that the money received from the Woman’s League is currently not a stable income. That is, she may or may not be elected at the ANCWL again.
Recently, Dlamini’s lawyer insisted that the public will be satisfied if Bathabile receives a hefty fine. This was reiterated through the fact that she takes care of her family.
