Not so sure if it’s going to help his case but we can almost with certainty say that it’s was a dagga joint he lit up in the SABC Newsroom.

Du Plessis has been part of many campaigns advocating for the legalisation of cannabis in South Africa. He says South Africa is not moving fast enough in terms of legalising cannabis.

Central Drug Authority (CDA) deputy Chairperson David Nayever said: “Unfortunately, part of the delay in initiating might have been because of the xenophobia attacks which is also part of what the department of social development has to deal with…”

Du Plessis whas having none of it and said the CDA is 11 years late in presenting its position paper and they should not bring xenophobia into this as a form excuse into being late and doing their job.

So… Du Plessies lit up a joint, or what appears to be a DAGGA (Marijuna, Cannabis) joint and started puffing away.

It must be strong stuff as all he could say after a few puffs was “I think that’s all I got to say”.
