The cold, rainy weather in Cape Town is having an adverse effect on the power supply, and Eskom has warned of network problems.
In a media statement, Eskom said they are expecting an increase in faults in the greater Cape Town area and parts of the Western Cape because of the weather.
“Severe weather conditions put the network at risk and can affect the electricity supply of customers in some areas and potentially leave customers with prolonged periods without electricity,” Eskom said.
The embattled power utility urged their customers to remain patient and make use of the channels made available to log faults.
Eskom said they will prioritise their response to costumers without electricity supply for more than 48 hours, then those who have been left in the dark for more than 24 hours, and so on.
They also apologised for the inconvenience caused to residents of the Western Cape who are being affected by stormy weather as a cold front makes landfall.
