God ‘keeping Mugabe alive’

She was speaking at a dinner in Binga, Matabeleland, in the northern province to back Mugabe’s Zanu-PF party who has been leading Zimbabwe since independence in 1980.

ThisIsAfrica.co quotes the first lady as saying her husband’s leadership is was “God given” and that people should ask themselves “why God continues giving a 91-year-old strength to lead the country. Where have you ever seen a 91-year-old who can stand for two hours?” she asked.

She has a warning for ambitious political candidates who stood against her husband. She told them to “be careful”. Her warning comes after the axing of former vice president Joice Mujuru. “This is what destroyed Mujuru. Do not be caught off-side,” she said.
