The minister made the bold statement during the weekend when he accusing the Hawks of harassment and intimidatory tactics.
At this stage it is not clear if media reports are true that the Gordhan’s attorneys received a “mysterious letter” from the Hawks instructing him to reply to 27 questions relating to their investigation into a so-called South African Revenue Service (SARS) “rogue unit” by 16h00 on Monday, 14 March 2016 (today), as was reported in the media.
The DA says this “is a major escalation in the ‘dirty war’ of leaked documents, off-the-record briefings and anonymous sources being fought over the SARS ‘rogue unit’. And it could not have come at a worse time with Moody’s Investor Services carrying out a ratings downgrade review this week in South Africa.”
Girls and boys… Somebody is not playing nice. It seems as though this is all being orchestrated by the great puppet master himself, President Jacob Zuma, who is fighting for political survival. What we need here is an independent judicial commission of inquiry to investigate all the allegations relating to the SARS “rogue unit”.
