There are a few days of rainy weather predicted for the Western Cape province this week, and when temperatures drop to below freezing, you can bet there will be some snowfall.
Matroosberg Reserve is planning ahead for the cold weather, and say snowfall is a possibility.
“A little bit of snow in the predictions for this week. As you can see, this is only at 2032m above sea level (which is high up in the mountain), but at least it seems as though Snow season is at least trying to show up this year. As always, we will keep you updated,” they said in a post on Facebook.
Minimum temperatures drop from 1°C on Monday, 21 June to below freezing on Tuesday. Maximum temperatures drop more dramatically from 16°C on Monday to 7°C on Tuesday and then only 3°C on Wednesday. There is also a 50% chance of rain on Wednesday, which will translate to light snowfall if conditions allow.

There is also more rain predicted from Friday, 25 June all the way through to Sunday in the Matroosberg area – paired with icy cold temperatures of a maximum of 1°C on Saturday and a further drop to 0°C on Sunday.
It is advisable to watch Matroosberg Reserve’s social media channels before heading out to see the snow. Sometimes the areas that receive snowfall are out of reach which results in a wasted trip.
