Loadshedding is unfortunately not a thing of the past as Eskom shared that their generating units are severely constrained. South Africans will now face power cuts in winter.

Power cuts expected to continue throughout winter

On Monday the 11th of April, Eskom announced that there will be Loadshedding at short notice and posthumously put the power out in certain areas.

Right now, South Africa will need to prepare for more power cuts as Loadshedding might continue throughout this week. Eskom has also revealed outages to take place before and during winter.

“This constrained system will remain with us for the rest of the week that is because of the forecast in demand due to the inclement weather, in particular,”  Sikonathi Manshantsha

Stage 2 Loadshedding to take place from 5 pm on Tuesday

Right now, South Africa is on stage 2 Loadshedding until further notice. Should any changes take place, Eskom will notify everyone of the changes in the supply chain.

Thus far, Manshantsha has explained that the wet weather in some parts of the country is one of the reasons for Loadshedding taking place. As a result, Eskom is struggling to keep the lights on.

In order to stay ahead of powercuts experiences in your area, you can download the EskomSePush app on your phone. This way, you’ll get real-time notifications before the power goes out.

Alternatively, you can go onto Eskom’s website to find Loadshedding schedules for your area. As they are readily made available as reported by Business Tech.

So far, Eskom has relayed that power cuts will be prevalent in the near future as they work on getting the power back on again.

For many, this can be frustrating as we approach the cold and wet season. This time around many would want to make use of their heaters and the like.
