The proclamation of the election date by the N(s)kandla master and the provincial Premiers is expected later this month. The publication of this official notice triggers the election timetable that establishes deadlines for the submission of candidate lists and applications for specials votes. Consequent to consultation with political parties in the National Party Liaison Committee, the Electoral Commission will now publish the election timetable and will communicate key dates with all stakeholders.
The IEC has reminded voters and all political parties that the announcement of the election date does not constitute an official proclamation. Voter registration will continue until the date of the official proclamation – so you may still register (do it!).
