They – the PP people – say Julius Malema (Juju to his friends) and his cronies are on the right track if they are serious about attracting votes in the next election. A survey conducted by PP also says Malema’s EFF (Economic Freedom Fighters) policies of land reform and elimination of national borders within southern Africa will boost youth support for the party.
PP says 38% of respondents believed Juju’s EFF would gain support because of its policies, 29% believed they would lose support and 18% believed the support base would not change. The survey was conducted via mobiles with 2,339 people between 18 and 34 responding.
37% supported the EFF’s land grab policy, but 49% did not. According to the survey, 42% of young black people approved of land reform with the largest support in the Free State (56%).
On the elimination of borders, 32% approved, while 54% disapproved.
“Young South Africans want change, and other parties should look carefully at the alternatives they will be offering them,” says PP spokeswoman Shirley Wakefield.
