Nkosana Makate has contributed immensely to the nation with his ‘please call me’ service. Apparently, he has not been getting any credit for it and has been committed to getting his money’s worth for it.
Currently, the CEO of Vodacom has offered Nkosana Makate R47 million for his invention. This, however, did not sit well with him as he feels this amount was inaccurately calculated.
Nkosana Makate might get billions
According to Nkosana, he should at least be getting R10 million. In favor of this claim, the Judge ruled that Vodacom should go back to the drawing board and figure out an accurate amount that should be awarded to Nkosana Makate.
While Nkosana felt that the judge should administer an amount that he should be given. The judge, however, said that she is not in the position to do it. Vodacom would have access to all the financial aspects and could come up with an accurate amount to give to him.
A new amount is to be calculated for the ‘please call me’ inventor
So, the CEO of Vodacom has at least a month-long to come up with this amount due to Nkosana Makate. The amount of R47 million was allegedly an assumed amount. This amount has been calculated over a time span of 5 years.

The new amount is said to be calculated over 18 years as the service was first launched in 2001. According to IOL, Judge Hughes relayed that Vodacom clearly defied the Constitutional court order to act and negotiate in good faith.
So, Nkosana is entitled to get 5% of the total voice revenue made by the ‘please call me’ service. This would start from March 2001 to March 2021. Right now, it is unclear what amount Nkosana will be receiving.
This is a developing story.
