Queen Elizabeth II has lost her husband ahead of her 70-year reign celebration. Amid her celebration, she will be celebrating and remembering the lives of the late Prince Philip and her later Father, King George VI. This will be the first time she marks the death of her father without Philip.
Queen Elizabeth II celebrates 70 years on the throne
The Queen’s celebration comes amid the Prince Andrew scandal which has not dissipated as of yet. Regardless, the Queen will be marking her 70 years on the throne since her father’s passing. In honor of the late King’s passing, Queen Elizabeth will be spending time at Sandringham Estate.
According to Newsweek, Queen Elizabeth II has landed in Sandringham Estate on Sunday. She traveled via a helicopter.
In the series called The Crown, much of the Queen’s life is relayed through fictionalized settings. Some of the events remain true but other fiction events make the series less of a docuseries than fans had initially thought it to be.
One moment visualized in the series is the time of her father’s passing. At this time, Queen Elizabeth II and her late husband had been in Congo when her father had passed on. The Queen did not receive the news directly but through her husband who walked her through the gardens while breaking the news to her.
The Queen affair will be bittersweet as she celebrates both the 70 years as Queen and the 70 years of her father’s death. King George VI was only 56 when he died. Queen Elizabeth is expected to stay at Sandringham Estate until February 6th.
