Pistorius, between periods of prolonged sobbing and howling says: “At times I don’t feel like I should have the right to live for taking someone else’s life”. He goes on to deny that it was murder.
British rag The Guardian reports Pistorius – who‚ in court last week‚ claimed to have an offer to work in an early childhood development programme – says in the interview that if “afforded the opportunity of redemption I would like to help the less fortunate like I had in my past”.
“I would like to believe that if Reeva could look down upon me that she would want me to live that life‚” he says. “At times I don’t feel like I should have the right to live for taking someone else’s life. What’s difficult is dealing with the charge of murder‚” Pistorius says.
Throughout Pistorius sticks to his original account of what happened the morning of the shooting on 14 February 2013‚ Valentine’s Day‚ inside his security-gated pad in Pretoria.
M-Net said it secured the rights to screen the ITV documentary ‘Oscar Pistorius: The Interview’ only minutes after the end of the world premiere. The pay-channel says its viewers would be able to watch the interview as part of a Carte Blanche special minutes after its world-premiere on the UK television network on Friday‚ June 24.
