Severe Weather Alerts
IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:
- Yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms resulting in heavy downpours that may result in flooding of informal/formal settlement, low level bridges and roads, large amounts of small hail which may result in isolated infrastructure damages and strong winds which may cause isolated incidents of falling trees can be expected over the western parts of the North West Province, Free State, Gauteng, in places on the Highveld of Mpumalanga, the eastern parts of the Northern Cape, extreme southern parts of Limpopo and the northern interior of the Eastern Cape.
- Yellow level 2 warning for wind resulting in difficulty in navigation at sea is expected between Saldanha Bay and Gansbaai and may also result in localized problems for high-sided vehicles on prone routes over the City of Cape Town.
FIRE DANGER WARNINGS:
- Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the Khai-Municipality of the Northern Cape.

Gauteng:
Temperature: Cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers.
The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Low.
Mpumalanga:
Temperature: Cold on eastern Highveld and along the escarpment areas, otherwise cloudy and cool with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered to widespread over the Highveld.
Limpopo:
Temperature: Warm in parts of the the Western Bushveld, otherwise cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated in the east.
North-West Province:
Temperature: Cloudy in the east at first, otherwise partly cloudy and warm, with scattered to widespread showers and thundershowers.
Free State:
Temperature: Cloudy in the east and the central parts at first, with possible fog patches over the extreme east, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm, with scattered to widespread showers and thundershowers.
Northern Cape:
Temperature: Fine and warm to hot, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon, with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers in the east but widespread in the extreme east.
Wind: Morning fog patches along the coast with moderate to fresh south-westerly wind.
Western Cape:
Temperature: Cloudy to partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers along the Overberg coast, spreading to the east and central parts in the afternoon. It will be fine, windy and warm in the west and south-west.
Wind: The wind along the coast will be strong easterly but south-easterly in the west and south-west.
The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Extreme.
Eastern Cape:
The Western half – Temperature: Cloudy in places in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and warm, with isolated to scattered afternoon and evening showers and thundershowers, but cool along the coast with scattered evening showers and rain.
The Western half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh easterly, becoming strong south-easterly in places from late morning.
The Eastern half – Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm, becoming cloudy in the afternoon with scattered.
The Eastern half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-easterly, becoming strong in the afternoon.
Kwazulu-Natal:
Temperature: Morning fog over the interior, otherwise cloudy and cool. Scattered showers and thundershowers are expected in the south and west otherwise isolated but widespread in the extreme south-west.
Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-easterly.
The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Moderate.
