The incident on board – which included an assault with a water bottle on airline staff – was so bad that the pilot was forced the make an emergency landing in Halifax. The plane, Air Canada Flight 869 from London was supposed to fly to Toronto.
Canada’s Herald News reports Johansson was arrested after the plane landed at Halifax Stanfield International Airport. She remained in police custody overnight and was arraigned in Dartmouth provincial court Thursday on six charges which included engaging in behaviour that endangered the safety or security of an aircraft in flight.
She also faces five Criminal Code charges — three counts of endangering the safety of an aircraft by committing an assault and single counts of assault with a weapon (a water bottle) and causing a disturbance by screaming and swearing. Apparently she assaulted two female flight attendants.
She was granted bail of $10,000, which she had to pay in cash and will return to court on 22 January.
