Saffas abroad must complete an application to vote abroad

South Africans living abroad will vote on Wednesday 30 April and not with the rest of the Saffas at home who will cast their votes on election day, 7 May. If you want to earn the right to complain about your new government, you need to vote. But before you can vote, the nice people at the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has hung a little loop for you to jump through. You will need to download and complete a VEC10 form before midnight on 12 March. Do it now! You will find the form here.

Saffas abroad must complete an application to vote abroad

It is easy to submit this form online. We have tried it and – for a change – the IEC website is working fine. Even if your voter registration application has not yet been processed you can still submit a VEC10 form.
According to the chairman of the DA Abroad, Ludre Stevens, you need to vote to “to bring about far greater accountability of the ANC government and push for jobs and the fight against corruption… South Africans living abroad have strong emotional and family ties with their home country and many think of returning some-day.”

He also asked Saffas abroad to sign a petition for more reasonable access to voting stations abroad which can be found here.

South Africans abroad would only be voting for the National Assembly. There is no provincial ballot or provincial weight in the vote for the National Assembly available to voters abroad.
