He was discharged today on a count of murdering his wife Anni while on honeymoon in South Africa in 2010.
Deputy Judge President Jeanette Traverso granted an application by Dewani’s counsel for a discharge in the Western Cape High Court.
She said the only reason not to grant the application would be out of hope that the accused would implicate himself if he took the witness stand – something he was clearly never going to do
The hotel receptionist, Monde Mbolombo was initially granted immunity from Prosecution, however Traverso made it clear that he had a bigger role to play in the murder and refused to grant his indemnity.
If this was such a strong case what did the prosecution do for preparation all this time?
