Well-known South African actress Shaleen Surtie-Richards has died at the age of 66. Beloved for many roles she played in her illustrious career – she was best-known for playing Nenna in Egoli, Place of Gold and Fiela in Fiela se Kind.
She also starred in other popular series, including Generations and 7de Laan – and was a popular theatre actress.
The cause of Surtie-Richards’ death is unknown right now, and her family is yet to release a statement – but it is alleged that she has been dealing with complications with her lungs and has been struggling to breath.
Condolences are pouring in for her. Social media users posted messages of disbelief and sadness on Shaleen’s Facebook wall.
South African singer, Patricia Lewis wrote: “RIPOUR SUPERSTERRE MAMMA!!!OUR SHARLEENTJIEEEE!!!!.”

“This is so terribly sad – Rest in Peace Shaleen Surtie Richards will miss your tiktok chats and stitches xoxoxo,” said one friend.
