Scott Parker, who holds duel citizenship with South Africa and the UK, has already appeared in a UK court charged with drug smuggling. He is from Benoni in Ekurhuleni (apparently that is what used to the East Rand).
The Star newspaper in Johannesburg reported Parker is being accused of hiding the drugs in the bottoms of three cat crates with the animals still inside. The cats were on a flight from OR Tambo International Airport to Heathrow Airport in London.
Sapa reports the Britain’s National Crime Agency said workers at the Heathrow Animal Reception Centre thought the crates were unusually heavy after the cats were removed. They found a false bottom in the crates with the heroin inside.
Parker appeared in the Uxbridge Magistrate’s Court. The cats are safe and have been reunited with their owners.
