Ask the poor people who have applied for visas or leave to remain in February last year and could not go home to South Africa for Christmas because their passports are still somewhere hidden in an office in Croydon and they will echo what John Vine now has to say.
Vine says the trove of more than 16,000 unprocessed applications for permission to live in Britain is “completely unacceptable.” And that’s just cases involving applications by spouses of British citizens. Look further Johnny boy, you will find many many more.
He says 2,100 applications were in boxes transferred between offices, and some dated back nearly a decade. Vine also said “for people to wait such a substantial time … is unacceptable.” Not to mention the expense of booking flights because one could assume that an application involving your passport should not take more than six months.
The UK media describes this as “the latest setback for the beleaguered U.K. Border Agency”. Most South Africans in living in the UK are hardworking tax payers and certainly not on the dole. All we ask is that Theresa and her bulldogs treat our applications seriously, speedily and take into consideration how it effects our lives. We have enough incompetence to deal with back home.
