The Times report they have a copy of a draft resolution sent to board members on Monday for their approval. The resolution proposes that the Communications Minister Faith Muthambi be asked to reappoint Motsoeneng as SABC chief operating officer.
This resolution flies in the face of a damning public protector‘s report and rulings against Motsoeneng by the Cape Town High Court as well as the SCA.
In fact – the SCA – told cloudy Hlaudi to voetsek from the SABC. It dismissed (with costs) his application for leave to appeal a High Court ruling that his permanent appointment at the SABC should be set aside on the grounds that there’s no reasonable prospect of success.
Motsoeneng began acting as COO in 2011 and the Comms Minister confirmed his permanent appointment in 2014, despite adverse findings by the Public Protector, including that he misrepresented his qualifications and awarded staff and himself irregular salary increases.
Last year, after the Western Cape High Court ruled that Motsoeneng’s appointment was irrational and unlawful, he approached the SCA.
Time for him to pack his bags and go and crawl into a very deep hole, we think.
