Just when you thought the president of the South African Football Association (SAFA) would be flying South Africa’s flag at the FIFA elective congress in Zurich, the Billy Big Balls of soccer in SA is nowhere to be seen.
Jordaan has now skipped two important successive FIFA meetings since the US Attorney General released the indictment identifying two South Africans as co-conspirators in the 2010 World Cup bribery allegations. This is a blatant dereliction of his position at SAFA.
The DA says in a statement they are deeply concerned that Danny Jordaan is shunning his responsibilities as the president of SAFA. “He is currently missing in action at another FIFA meeting. His failure to represent SAFA at one of the most important congresses in the sport’s history raises serious questions in the wake of the FBI’s investigation into the FIFA bribery scandal.”
The DA says they are also concerned that Mr Jordaan is trying to juggle his responsibilities as part-time mayor of Nelson Mandela Bay (a city in shit – Ed.) and part-time SAFA president, ultimately not succeeding in fulfilling his role as either one of these. We demand that he makes up his mind as to what he is, pick a position and focus on that. When you spin too many plates, somebody is going to end up at a Greek party.
