While the benefactor who paid for expelled African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) President Julius Malema to stay in London seems to remain secret, at least one person found the need to make it clear he was not the culprit. Sport and Recreation Minister Fikile Mbalula refuted allegations that his department had picked up the tab for Juju’s trip to the Big Smoke during the Olympics.
“Once and for all … I did not pay for Julius [Malema],” said Mbalula who just returned from London to Johannesburg. “I went there for my own programme of government. My department has never paid for any private citizen in the form of Julius or anybody through our trip in London,” he said.
“He (Melema) speaks for himself, you must ask him how he got there and not me…
He described media reports claiming that he had paid for Malema’s trip as “mischievous”.
Meanwhile its been reported Juju was seen in the compay of Zimbabwean businessman Conrad Mwanza. The rumour now goes that Mwanza is the one to blame for Malema’s presence in London.
Newspapers published pictures of Malema in Mwanza’s company at the five-star Corinthia Hotel in London. Malema said: “There shouldn’t be a problem (with that), my brother. Neither am I confirming (that he is my host).”
