Load shedding is back – thanks to more breakdowns and a further strain on the power grid that supplies South Africans with electricity.
Eskom announced on Monday, 7 June that power outages will continue from 5pm to 10pm.
“Eskom regrets to announce it will implement Stage 1 loadshedding between 17:00 and 22:00 tonight due to the loss of two generation units at Kusile, and one each at Kendal and Tutuka Power Stations. These constraints have been exacerbated by delays in returning a unit each at Kusile, Duvha and Matla Pwer Stations,” they said in a statement.
Eskom also warned that there is a high likelihood for more load shedding for the rest of this week as the power system remains constrained and vulnerable.
If there are further outages, they will load shed between 5pm-10pm.
In the meanwhile, stock up on candles – this is going to be a long and cold winter if Eskom has anything to do with it.
