According to Greenpeace solutions exist — but Eskom’s mismanagement, poor focus, and stubborn reliance on outdated energy systems mean they aren’t being implemented. Instead we have coal projects that are way over budget and even further over deadline.
South Africans are the one’s paying for this disaster. But it doesn’t have to be like this.
Our country has some of the world’s best renewable energy potential, but developments are being blocked by short-sighted policies. Private investments in rooftop solar are being throttled by red tape and large-scale projects are being overlooked in favour of dangerously expensive coal and nuclear plans.
We have no confidence in Eskom — urgent change is needed.
“South Africa can create around 150 000 new jobs in the energy sector in the next 20 years, and at the same time safeguard against catastrophic climate change”
Sign the vote of no confidence if you agree that South Africans deserve better, and the barriers to renewable energy must be urgently removed.
