Zuma – in his first utterances since being re-elected as big boss of the ANC – said spending money on buying a dog, taking it to the vet and even taking it for a walk walks belongs to the white culture and was not the African way.
The boss man was speaking in KwaZulu-Natal when he said black people should rather focus on the family. He said he is concerned that there is a new generation of young Africans who were trying to adopt other lifestyles and even trying to look like others. “Even if you apply any kind of lotion and straighten your hair you will never be white.” Instead, a person lost dignity and ubuntu, and was also likely to lose respect and love for his fellow human beings. Black people should stop adopting the habits of other cultures. People who loved dogs more than people are “having a lack of humanity”.
