Flower season has arrived in full bloom on the West Coast of South Africa and you don't want to miss out on. Each year, between August and September, the West Coast National Park and areas along the coastline in the Western Cape turn into a kaleidoscope of hues as far as the eye can see. Carpets of bright petals attract visitors from all over South Africa - and during this time period, the protected area of Postberg within the Park is open to the public. According to Pierre Nel, Acting Park Manager of the West Coast National Park, they expect more visitors to enjoy the park this year than last. “When we opened last year on the 5th of June and we carried that into flower season it was largely a self-drive experience, so you were restricted to remain in your vehicle. This year we are not applying that restriction any longer, because of the national regulations, people can participate in the trails, they can cycle in the general park area and they’re able to alight at the picnic sites, get out their vehicles and walk around and our restaurant in the park is also open.” The entrance fee to the park during flower season starts at R94 for adults and R47 for children.
