Sixty kilometres from Graaff-Reinet, in the open space of the spectacular Mount Camdeboo Private Game Reserve are eco-friendly pods that bring you as close to nature – within the comfort of four walls – as possible.
The sleep-out pods are only 26m² in size but in the stillness of the reserve, you could easily believe you’re in a different world altogether. And that was the intention for the secluded accommodation that can easily be moved around the reserve to show off its various highlights.
Called eco-lux pods because of its Interiors, which are inspired by nature, they each display thoughtful design with luxury furnishings and soft lighting. On the inside, you will discover a view unlike anything you’ve experience before from a luxury double bed, with an en-suite bathroom, a kitchenette and even space to relax. With 180-degree views from the interior, you can spy on the wilderness that surrounds you in the day and be consumed by the night sky when the sun sets.
Well-insulated from the cold in the dead of winter and considerate when it comes to the overbearing heat – each pod is constructed from a solid steel frame cladded in a combination of wood panelling, corrugate and glass. And for every traveller’s delight, there is a private boma, fire pit and a wood-burning hot tub to soak up your surroundings.
Best of all, it is completely off the grid and perfect for a romantic getaway.
