We get so wound up in work that we never stop and take time out. A lot of the time, spa breaks are perceived to be too expensive, and we never even bother to enquire just how much they could cost! With all the financial uncertainty that the world is facing, many hotels and tour operators and have cut their prices and it is now more affordable than ever to energise our weary bodies.
The Caribbean islands of Grenada and St Lucia both offer all inclusive packages that include all your spa treatments. La Source in Grenada has the award-winning Oasis spa. They have experts that are trained in providing the ultimate relaxation package, with treatments to suit your needs. There are many different kinds of massages and facials along with aromatherapy that will leave you feeling completely energised. They also offer yoga, tai chi, pilates, girokensis and meditation.
There is also a nine hole golf course as well as tennis, fencing, archery, beach volleyball, aerobics, table tennis, cycling, weight training, jogging, stretch classes, billiards/snooker and an air-conditioned gym. You can even go scuba diving, and if you don’t yet have your certification, you can also do that at the resort.
As well as the spa, the resort is situated on one of the most beautiful of the Caribbean beaches, so you get to combine your spa treatments with lazing in the sun next to a palm tree. And another of the soothing aspects of this holiday is that it is fully inclusive flights, accommodation, meals, drinks and beverages, including alcohol, are paid for up front as well as a complimentary spa treatment per day.
Another amazing Caribbean gem is the La Sport in St Lucia. This resort is particularly good as it does not have any single room supplements, so if you want to truly get away from it all, you can go on your own at no extra charge. Their motto is ‘Give us your body for a week and we will give you back your mind’. This is true in every sense of the word. The resort is situated in its own cove and provides complete seclusion and peace from the outside world. This resort is also all inclusive (including a spa with tailor made treatments).
A little closer to home, and a place I visited in April, is the Blue Lagoon in Reykjavik. There are some fantastic spa packages to Iceland, and it is truly one of the most beautiful countries on the planet. A visit to the geo thermal spa of the Blue Lagoon will offer you the chance to spend hours in the hot natural waters, regenerating your body and mind. There are also face masks all over the lagoon that you can use for free, as well as saunas, steam baths and waterfalls that massage your back when you stand under them. It is an experience of a lifetime and one that should not be missed.
