It must be a world record for shortest takeoff with a Boeing 767

They say that the Ethiopian Airlines pilot "mistook" the instructions from the tower and landed a Boeing 767 with 200 passengers on the wrong airport, one made for small light weight aircraft.

It must be a world record for shortest takeoff with a Boeing 767

The runway is 1600 metres up on the grass but he was meant to land at runway 27 at Kilimanjaro International Airport, not 27 at the tiny Arusha airport 50km from it.

In a bid to rectify the problem and safe face the pilot decided to TAKE OFF and he manoeuvred the 767 180 degrees on the grass, pulled the emergency brake and opened up the engines as far as the brakes can handle, then released them to take off on a runway that has far less than the minimum required length for an aircraft of this size to take off.

I think we can all agree you need a pair of BIG BRASS ones to pull off a takeoff with a Boeing 767 on that tiny runway.
